Pumpkin Muffins

Smells like Fall.

First day of Autumn and these sounded good. Sure did make the house smell delicious. I added raisins, shredded carrots, and pecan to half and left half plain.

Easy frosting tip

I always have trouble with the frosting tip slipping out, when I use a plastic bag. So.... before I put the icing in the bag, I taped the plastic down to the tip. Worked like a charm.

Eyeglasses case

Wonder Woman Eyeglasses Case

One of the girls is a huge Wonder Woman fan. She is in the 2nd grade and wears glasses. We search online for a case for her glasses, because there was not a large selection at the doctor's office.
The only Wonder Woman case we could find was on back order for months.

So, this was my solution.

Cookie dough icing

Dark chocolate cupcake
with chocolate chip cookie dough icing

I made these for the baby's 2nd birthday. I wanted something different. The icing starts with a basic cream cheese frosting. I chose it for the tanginess of the cream cheese. Extra vanilla was added to make the flavor more intense. Brown sugar gives the icing the correct texture.

4x4 Sliders

EASY SLIDERS

When you use 3 lbs of meat fills an entire pan, and it makes 24 small patties. Keep in mind that they will shrink during cooking. I used 2 lbs, because that was enough for us. Even though, the girls were begging for them the next day.
Press 2lbs of ground hamburger or turkey into a jelly roll pan;
divide into 4 rows of 4 using an 8 inch chef's knife. Season.
Remove from pan by lifting them up with a spatula and grill.

The above picture is 1 lb of meat. Each pound of meat should take up a third of the pan.
It makes uniform patties without a mess.

T shirt blanket

Blanket made from favorite t shirts and full size jersey knit sheets.

Items for T shirt Quilt

  1. Make a square frame from cardboard. Use it to adjust location of print of t shirt.
  2. Transfer square. I used a marker.
  3. Sew together each t shirt square to woven cotton fabric, as you would a pillow. This makes an applique.
  4. Remove stitching from fitted corners.
  5. I stitched on matching gray squares from the back of the t shirts to the new openings where the sheet was fitted.
  6. Layout and pin applique t shirt squares to top of the sheet that was fitted.
  7. Top stitch squares.
  8. Lay the new sheet with the appliqued squares face up on the working surface.
  9. Place Flat Sheet on top of previously Fitted Sheet. Then place quilting batting on top. Pin layers together.
  10. Sew the perimeter with a 1 inch seam allowance, leaving a 2 foot opening. It will be inside out.
  11. Turn right side out and top stitch.

Sew squares together like a pillow
Remove stitching from fitted corners

Summer sparkles

My girls love glitter
1. Use a paper plate under foot as you sprinkle glitter.
2. Coat one nail at a time with a base coat. Before it is dry cover it with glitter. (I start with clear but next time will use an actual color. For better coverage)
3. Do each nail individually. The paint needs to be wet.
4. Once polish is dry, brush away glitter with brush.
5. Gather glitter from plate and put it back in container. (I use a piece of paper and shaped it into a funnel.)

Cookie decorating

Separate colored icing for little ones with plates that are sectioned. Use babyfood spoons for sprinkles.

More important

I wanted to make the pictures in the nursery more important, so I painted a square under them.
